Combustion - Air, Fire and Heat

Combustion still remains a triad of air, fire and heat. Remove any of these and combustion stops. One of the limitations of a traditional internal combustion engine is the air flow.

As seen in the illustration below, engines currently use a poppet valve that is moved up and down, or open and closed to control the air flow into the cylinder. The flaw or drawback to this valve is that the air movement around and past this valve and enclosure is narrow, restricted and convoluted compared to that presented by a Rotary Cartridge Valve.
